The World of Unemployment

We have been in Winter Springs for a little over a week and I am still faithfully and diligently on the hunt for employment. I know I am not alone in this search as many are without employment. This move to Florida is a huge leap of faith as we are trusting the Lord to provide for us financially, so that Roy can attend seminary. We knew the sacrifices we'd be making before we made the move, but we also know that the rewards are far greater. Already, we can see the Lord moving in our hearts as he is drawing us closer to Him. We love the church that we go to, City Church, in downtown Orlando which is a fairly new church plant. We love the area we live in and are making friends, which is a huge blessing. Again, we are trusting the Lord to provide a job for me and with that being said, I am asking for your prayers. I am doing all that I know to do to obtain a job, but it is most difficult when I live in a place where I have little to no connections and I don't know anyone! :( The Lord is really teaching me to rely on His perfect plan, to trust that He who has called us to seminary will provide for us. Roy told me a quote a few days ago that I believe is incredibly fitting for this time in our lives "Our security is not based on what is in our pocket, but who is in our heart." We believe that! There is nothing greater than knowing Jesus, even if it brings difficulties and trials, which His Word promises it will. Please pray that we will be changed as the Lord brings us through trials to bring us to Himself.

Week 1

It has officially been one week since Roy and I made the transition down to Orlando. We are loving every moment of it! We live in such a great area. Winter Springs is incredibly quiet and we have met some amazing people. We live in an area where we can walk everywhere! Yesterday we walked to Wal-Mart to get groceries and also walked to Red Bug Lake Park. This area is such a "walker, runner, biker" friendly place. I love it! We are settling here pretty well. Last Sunday we attended City Church in downtown Orlando, which is a church plant, and we just love it. I met a girl there who works for a staffing agency in Orlando and she set up a time for me to come in and start finding a job! It was such a great blessing :) The Lord has been so sweet to help us begin making friendships. We have been really trying to meet people in our apartment complex and have been a bit successful thus far. We want to really engage with the community and hopefully have a number of opportunities to share our life and our faith with them. We are enjoying our time here, but I think we are both ready to start on a daily routine. Roy is THRILLED about starting seminary on August 3rd and I am doing all I know to do in terms of job hunting. Yesterday I applied for 12 jobs!!! It took over 5 hours to do all the necessary work. I am applying for positions within the Seminole Co. Florida Public School System. Please keep praying that I will find a job soon!!!

Home Sweet Home!

We've officially moved to Winter Springs, FL. With the help of our parents, which we are incredibly thankful for, we are getting settled in. So far, so good! We miss everyone, especially our families. Keep us in your prayers throughout this transition. Here are a few pictures of our new apartment!

Good-bye Troy :(

We are leaving Troy in just a few days. We have such precious memories here. Today was my last day of work, so I am now officially unemployed. I'm praying for the Lord to provide a job for me in Orlando very soon. Roy and I are so excited about this new phase of life, and although we are looking forward to the move, we are also sad to leave our friends here in Troy. This week has been crazy! :) We have been packing for a few days now and are JUST ABOUT done. I'll be ready to get everything packed up and on it's way to Winter Springs. Again, please keep us in your prayers during this time. We desire Matthew 6:33 for our lives and are trusting in Him to provide for us in the coming weeks. Come visit us!! :)

Our First Taste of SUMMER

It has been my "vacation" week from work, but instead of a vacation this year, Roy and I had to make a trip to Orlando to find a place to live. We were able to spend 4th of July weekend in Port St. Joe, FL with my family. It was great to see them! It has been 5 years since I spent a 4th of July in PSJ. I have so many wonderful memories of the 4th at the beach! We had a great time. It was my first taste of summer. We woke up on the 4th and ran a 5K, with no training. Probably not the bext decision, but we had a lot of fun. We headed to Oviedo, FL on Monday to find a place to live... and we did!! We are so excited that the Lord provided us a great place to live that fits our budget and is close to the seminary. It is about 580 sq. ft, so it's incredibly small, but we are thrilled about it! We will be moving NEXT weekend. Wow! I can't believe it will be here so quickly. Our wonderful families are going to help with the move to FLORIDA and we are so excited that they will be able to come help us get settled in. Please keep us in your prayers through this transition! Here are some specific needs we are asking the Lord for...

* A job for me (Becky)!
-I am trusting the Lord to provide a full-time job with benefits for me to support us during the next three years. I am praying he'll provide something that I'll enjoy and love to do!

* Roy as he begins seminary August the 3rd
* Friendships!
* A church home
* Transition well

We love Oviedo, but it is much bigger than we are used to. We only knew a few people and trust the Lord to allow Oviedo to feel like home. We want to transition well and honor the Lord with all of the decisions that we are having to make. We are eager to see how the Lord shapes us in the next few years. This move is a big leap of faith and we LONG to honor the Lord with our lives.
